A dynamic, innovative and inspiring company providing fintech solutions across multiple sectors is looking for a Senior Underwriter. As a Senior Underwriter, the successful candidate is responsible for the processing and underwriting of a range of applications, ensuring compliance and meeting high-pressure turnaround times for processing deals. Underwriting forms a key role in the business’ risk mitigation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing and underwriting of New Business and Re-advance applications as allocated by the Underwriting Manager
- Processing and underwriting of Partner New and Pre-approved applications
- Processing and underwriting of SME funding applications when allocated by the Underwriting Manager
- Processing and underwriting of EFT applications
- Responsible for full credit assessment of applicants
- Responsible for completing all necessary credit and reference checks as required by the product type
- Responsible for achieving performance targets and maintaining performance standards within the turn-around times agreed with stakeholders within the business
- Responsible for meeting internal SLA’s stipulated per product and partner while managing accuracy, completeness and turn-around times for deals
- Will be required to underwrite and finalize deals within designated mandate
- Prepare necessary documentation required by the Underwriting Manager to be used in Risk and Decline Appeal meetings
- Fulfil any task as requested by Team Leader to ensure SLA’s are met with stakeholders within the business.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 5 – 7+ years of underwriting and analysis experience
- Proven credit risk and or credit underwriting experience within the Financial services industry
- Minimum qualifications: Matric certificate and equivalent Advanced Certificates and/or Diploma in business/finance/accounting
- Proven computer skills and experience with CRM systems essential
- Proven MS Office skills, most importantly advanced Excel
- Experience in a pressurized, fast paced, and ever-changing environment
- Experience with applying credit risk to inform decision-making
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to achieve in line with performance targets and maintain performance standards within strict turn-around times.

- High level understanding and experience of credit risk underwriting
- Will rely heavily on analytical thinking, attention to detail, financial acumen and ethics during the credit evaluation process

- Ability to analyze bank statement data
- Ability to work under pressure and know how to prioritize tasks

Salary: Up to R28,000.00 per month
