After School Program Staff [United States]

The Oakwood Elementary After School Program (ASP) occurs at the end of the school day. Students check-in to After School if they are staying for regular childcare, enrichment classes, Math Lab, debate, athletics, and/or performing arts classes including instrumental lessons.

Tasks will include supervising K-6 students, ensuring student safety and tending to social-emotional learning opportunities as they arise. Staff will help navigate conversations to be grade appropriate, especially when there is a mixture of students in different grades socializing together. Staff members can engage with students in activities such as crafts, board games and sports. Other responsibilities include enforcing the rules for the purpose of safety and learning, managing attendance rosters, and organizing supplies/ snacks.

It will be required to have a current CPR/ First-Aid certification, which can be completed upon hire.

Regular childcare is available to families Monday to Friday from the start of dismissal until 6pm. Dismissal is typically at 3pm. On occasion, for early dismissal days or special events, childcare times may vary. Staff will receive advance notice of the special childcare times so they can plan accordingly. Please know that there is no childcare on breaks, observed holidays, and days where there are no students unless told otherwise.

After School employees start working at 2:30pm (30 minutes prior to dismissal) to set up and to get any pertinent information from the After School Supervisor.

Ideally, we would like an employee who would be available Monday through Friday from 2:30pm - 6pm. There is some flexibility with days and times. Please note that employees will clock out between 5pm-6pm depending on the number of students in attendance. Maximum number of staff hours per regular childcare day is 3.5 hours.

The role as an ASP staff member is a non-exempt, hourly position at the rate of $19/hr.
