Role Profile
In an effort to improve strategic programme and project outcomes, Tirlan has decided to establish a Strategy Execution Office (SEO), which will be led by the Head of Strategy Execution. The purpose of the SEO is to build on and improve the change culture across the organisation and ensure that our business strategy comes to life in the strategic programmes across the organisation.
To deliver this, the Head of Strategy Execution will set-up a central team to improve and standardise the delivery effectiveness of the most important business programmes and projects across the company and to bring a level of rigour to Tirlan’s resourcing and management of projects. The SEO will act as the company’s enterprise Programme Management Office (PMO).
The Head of Strategy Execution will work closely with the wider Senior Leadership Group to identify, prioritise and ensure fit for purpose governance of the key strategic projects & programmes required to deliver the corporate and category strategies. They will be responsible for defining and implementing a standardised set of methodologies, for coordinating the portfolio of strategic projects and for managing a pool of Program and Project Managers.
The Head of Strategy Execution will report to the Strategy Director.
Key Responsibilities
Stand up Tirlan’s Strategy Execution Office (SEO), including its key governance forum, the Portfolio Review Board.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement to ensure development and enhancement of Tirlán’s strategy execution capabilities & delivery outcomes
Build and lead a team of capable project managers to assist in the resourcing for delivery of key projects and programmes.
Coach and mentor a team of Project Managers, Business Leads & Sponsors in the definition of the associated implementation plans, timelines, resourcing and key dependencies for delivery.
Work with Business Sponsors and the SEO team to define KPIs and measures of success for each project to ensure progress can be measured during execution and corrective actions taken as necessary.
Embrace and refine the currently defined PMO methods and toolkits (aligning with industry best practice), to enable the business to scope, prioritise, execute and govern projects in a standardised, effective way.
Develop an integrated portfolio view of project resource demand and supply for both PMO and business resources escalating and discussing resource constraints and implications with line managers.
Collaborate across the business with key governance forums, functional and cross functional hubs. These include areas such as Innovation Forum, Capex, IT Steerco, 3M and Product Hubs.
Integrate key learnings from other areas and assist in forecasting both project resource demand and availability of key resources required to deliver projects.
Lead the maintenance of the ELT Develop Tomorrow dashboard which is a reporting forum for Project & Programme progress
Lead the monthly Portfolio Review Board meeting to track success of both strategic projects as well as overall strategy execution across the SLG
Lead collaborative efforts with Strategy alongside Category & Functional leadership to refine and prioritise the strategic initiatives and enablers identified in the corporate and category strategies
Cluster and align strategic objectives into clearly defined Projects and Programmes.
Develop and embed a culture of Benefits Realisation Management within the business to ensure that desired target outcomes are achieved.
Key Requirements
3rd level qualification in a relevant or applicable discipline.
A strong understanding of how strategic change happens across Tirlan.
Strong experience in a similar senior role, such as leading on strategic & transformational change, enterprise programme management offices or Senior Programme Managers
Ability to work at a senior level in a complex environment, overseeing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted and credible relationships across the organisation.
Ability to manage people to deliver outcomes through a coaching & mentoring environment.
Experience with and knowledge of project management frameworks, governance models and standards.
External qualifications related to a formally recognised Portfolio, Programme or Project Management qualifications would be strongly beneficial.
Ability to build linkages between other business programme hubs to increase knowledge around projects timelines and global resource management.
